Overview

A television adaptation of the Pyotr Fomenko Workshop Theatre's production of A.N. Ostrovsky's play. Recorded in 2004. The plot revolves around a promissory note scam and an attempt to woo a wealthier husband. This production, while respectful of the classic, reveals new facets of the play—Chekhov's impressionism, the poetry of a vanishing world, and the Russian estate.
